Get to Know Our Past Alumni

Wanderlust-Alumni-Spotlight-tamara

Q: Why did you want to start a Virtual Assistant business?

A: Mostly for the time freedom – I wanted to be there for my family, and the way I was growing in corporate made it so that I was out of my home and away from my family more than I wanted to be

Q: What inspired you to enroll in the Wanderlust Programs?

A: I was done with corporate and wanted guidance in creating my own business.

Q: As you know, VAing can unlock the freedom we crave in our lives! What do you love to do outside of work?

A: Back when the world was open, travel! But now it’s mostly spend time with my baby and work on my house (renovations, decorating, etc.)

Q: What has been the most challenging part of starting your VA biz?

A: Keeping to my boundaries — I’m a workaholic!

Q: What does your “day-to-day” look like now that you run your own online business?

A: It looks different now than it did when I was a VA. Now I spend a lot of time building relationships, creating internal trainings, doing quality assurance on the work my team does, lead generation, building our little empire, etc. The things I have brought over from my solo-VA days -> slow mornings, popping in on Slack 2x a day, crossing things off my todo list on ClickUp

Q: What has proven to be the best way for you to find your unicorn clients?

A: At the moment, referrals. But outside of that it’s been through my online presence (IG) or just pitching inside of FB groups

Q: Tell us about your VA biz and what services you offer!

A: I’m currently an integrator and the owner of Behind the Screens, a VA and OBM agency. We currently offer monthly retainer services, as well as systems and automation setups, and course build outs. Outside of that, I do consulting for high level business owners looking to diversify their revenue streams, grow their teams, or streamline their businesses.

Q: Who is your ideal client and what about them do you love?

A: My ideal clients are purpose/mission-driven, high performing, multiple 6-7 figure entrepreneurs in the health and wellness, education, and wedding industries. I LOVE that they’re so passionate about their work and that their lines of business actually impacts the lives of other people, whether it’s by elevating their health or executing one of the happiest days of their lives.

Q: What type of job were you working in prior to running your own online business?

A: I was an operations manager for Starbucks and before that I was an ops manager for Walt Disney World.

Q: What do you love most about virtual assisting?

A: Getting to work with all sorts of incredible entrepreneurs and do different kinds of things. No two days are the same.

Q: What is one piece of advice that you would give other women who are thinking of starting a VA biz?

A: Just do it – you are so capable! Don’t overthink it because you’ll get caught in analysis paralysis. Just jump in and you’ll quickly see how amazing you are at this 🙂

Q: You know how much we love to celebrate wins! What is a success in your biz that you are most proud of?

A: Hit multi-6 figures within my first 18 months of business! Currently I’m celebrating creating a diverse team and a fun, safe environment to learn and grow within my team.
