Get to Know Our Past Alumni

Q: Why did you want to start a Virtual Assistant business?
A: I desperately needed to leave teaching, as I was ruining my stomach and my mental health was suffering. I knew I didn’t want to get yet another “job” — I wanted something different, something that would give me space for self-care and more freedom to rest and just be.

Q: What inspired you to enroll in the Wanderlust Programs?
A: I had 8 weeks to either make freelance/work-for-myself work…..or not. So I needed that “short cut” that comes from working within a proven system, with support.
Q: As you know, VAing can unlock the freedom we crave in our lives! What do you love to do outside of work?
A: Reading! Expressive arts activities (facilitating and experiencing). Walking. Cooking. Chilling with my dogs. Writing.
Q: What has been the most challenging part of starting your VA biz?
A: In the beginning, believing that I could command $25+ per hour. (Now I can’t imagine asking for anything less than $50, and that would have to be a pretty small job, which blows my mind!)
Q: What does your “day-to-day” look like now that you run your own online business?
A: Get up. Make coffee. Walk 3-5 miles with my dogs. Work a few hours. Late lunch. I’ll do errands or some cleaning in here, sometimes homework. Work a bit more. When my husband gets home we make dinner together and then I’m usually off for the rest of the evening. He was off yesterday on a weekday so I decided to be off too and we went golfing and then got sushi and watched Game of Thrones. My parents were here two weeks ago so I worked away then was off for 4 days to be fully with them. I have so much flexibility and it’s amazing!

Q: What is one piece of advice that you would give other women who are thinking of starting a VA biz?
A: Trust yourself. Don’t be afraid to dive in. Get support.
Q: Tell us about your VA biz and what services you offer!
A: Right now I’m pretty much doing all copywriting and course strategy. For courses, I help people a lot with scope/sequence, creating objectives, and reverse engineering lessons using a variety of learning modalities (yay for a teaching background!). For copy, I’ve done a lot of full sites. I also take on sales pages, and I’m a pro at turning podcasts into fully optimized show notes. 🙂
Q: Who is your ideal client and what about them do you love?
A: I love working with women who are changing the world – coaches/leaders in empowerment, intuition, and healing appeal to me, as well as those who are creating really tangible systems to help others change (like the LFP program!). What I’ve found overall is that I prefer working with people who have established brands and clarity around who they are, what they offer, and who it’s for.
Q: What type of job were you working in prior to running your own online business?
A: I was teaching full-time — about 50-60 hours per week during the school year, with lots of evenings and weekends, which is apparently supposed to make up for the 6 weeks off during the summer. 😉 I also taught online part-time for VIP Kids (teaching English to Chinese children).

Q: What do you love most about virtual assisting?
A: Working with so many different people, seeing so many different business models, learning all the time. Autonomy, independence, remote-working, flexibility!
Q: What has proven to be the best way for you to find your unicorn clients?
A: Honestly, being myself. The last 3 clients I signed were literally people who found me and were like “YES. Your energy is amazing. It’s so clear to me I need you. What do you do? How do we pay?” — It’s so different than being desperate/tentative and searching. However, in terms of clients I find, FB groups have been awesome!
Q: You know how much we love to celebrate wins! What is a success in your biz that you are most proud of?
A: Taking home more my first year as a VA than I had taken home the year before teaching! Signing an NFL player as a client based off my LinkedIn profile! Writing a chapter for The Rising Sisterhood book, which is just coming out in March!

Quotes from Alumni
LFP was amazing and i did it all right after bringing home my sweet baby boy! I couldn't have become a Virtual instructor. She was there the whole way ...whenever I needed anything. So thank you LFP for the knowledge, motivation and changing my life!

Before I joined LFP I had no idea where to start, but I knew I wanted to work from home and have freedom. LFP gave me all of the resources, confidence and support I needed to get my business started!

My life has changed so much since LFP. I am the mama I wanted to be always and I am kicking ass in my business. Listen to the advice you are given and you will dominate in your business. Love you guys!

LFP was worth every single penny. The confidence, skills, and real-life experience I gained from this program were so incredibly valuable! Two Months in, I had my first client. If I tried to become a VA on my own, it may have taken me years to get where I am now.
