My Location Independent Office Setup as a Virtual Assistant

I don’t have a home office.

Yes, I work from home, but every time I go to set up an “office”… I return the furniture.

The IKEA return desk and I are good friends. 🤦‍♀️

I always WANT a home office because I know the importance of creating physical barriers between where you work and where you rest.

But I also started working as a digital nomad to get AWAY from the office life and create the ability to work from anywhere.

So in fact,

  • I work next to the floor to ceiling windows in the ski lodge
  • I work to sounds of the espresso machine at my fav coffee shop
  • I work in airports around the world during layovers

One of the best perks of virtual assisting is

Location Independence.

Heck, you could get work done from the back of a camel if you really wanted to!

As a VA who travels, here are the essential items I keep in my backpack… er, mobile office.

  • Wifi source – whether that is a pocket wifi hub or hot-spotting off a local SIM card!
  • International power adapter – this is a MUST if you are traveling to countries with different outlets!
  • Mini power bar – if you only have 1 power adapter, grab a mini power bar so you can charge multiple things at once!
  • Headphones – for meetings with clients!
  • Laptop – obviously 😉
  • Laptop charger – Keep that laptop alive! A laptop with a strong battery also gives more flexibility!

I’ve taken my mobile office skiing, on hikes, to temples, and to the beach!

And when I AM at home, I work at the dining table (because who actually eats at the dining table anyway?)

I think the day I DO have a home office, it’ll have to have floor to ceiling windows, with amazing views, and a water slide straight down to my local coffee shop.
